If you have been following Pokémon Sun and Moon or The Pokémon Company then you should know about all the critters released for Generation VII so far. Seems like another critter is making its way to Pokémon Sun and Moon, called Turtonator.
Turtonator is a Fire/Dragon-Type Pokémon with the ability Shell Armor that allows the critter to avoid critical hits in battles. It also knows an attack called Shell Trap, which lets set up a trap at the beginning of a battle. If Turtonator gets hits by the opponent Pokémon, Shell Tap triggers a huge explosion which deals a great amount of damage to the foe.
Some fans hate Turtonator's design while others see it as mysteriously interesting. To us, the Pokémon is fascinating except for the weird mouth. We don’t know yet if Turtonator is actually an evolved form of some other turtle-looking critter or not, but maybe The Pokémon Company is trying to hint that it is. How, you ask? By providing clips of the critter taking on other similar turtle-like critters.
It’s a bit disappointing to see that Pokémon that look like Turtonator or the Alolan form of Exeggutor are the Dragon-Type. At this point we won’t be surprised to see another Pikachu look-alike Pokémon turning out as Dragon-Type either. You know who deserves to have a dragon evolution? Eevee.
All in all, Turtonator seems to be a cool addition to the Generation VII roster, and one we will definitely be playing with. He sort of reminds us of the Matamata species of turtles, but then again, that’s just us. If you have the time go ahead and check a couple of images of the turtle and let us know what you think.
Pokémon Sun and Moon are slated to release on November 18 on Nintendo 3DS for $39.99 each. So make sure you know which version to get as they differ in the number of critters for each game. And please let us also know which version you will buy and why!
