We have good news for all those eagerly waiting for LG’s upcoming smartphone. The company recently announced that the V20 will be powered with a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC in order to offer superior audio experience than its predecessors.
LG’s announcement makes V20 the very first smartphone in the world to support a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC. Yesterday, the South Korean smartphone maker announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with ESS, in a bid to bring premium audio to its upcoming smartphone.
The idea is to reduce noise and improve sound quality. The company claims that it has reduced 50% of ambience noise levels. Alhough LG has proved itself in the smartphone industry, however, it remains in the shadows of strong players such as Samsung and Apple for far too long – but things are about to change.
"We are extremely excited that our Quad DAC technology will be featured in the V20, LG's latest flagship smartphone for consumers who demand the best media experience. As a technology more typically available in high-end audio equipment, Quad DAC on the V20 will make users feel as if they are carrying around a professional home-audio system on their smartphone," noted ESS Technology CEO and president, Robert Blair.
The 32-bit DAC component, developed by ESS, first made an appearance in the LG V10, which was well-liked by critics . The South Korean tech company seems to have realized the importance of new, innovative features, as the dynamics of the smartphone market continue to change rapidly.
LG president, Juno Cho, believes that the smartphone industry is evolving at a rapid pace and consumers now demand massive displays and superior processors on their smartphones. Mr. Cho stated: "Higher quality audio is simply the natural evolution of the smartphone, as the industry moves toward a more holistic multimedia consumption experience. We're pleased to continue this long-term partnership with ESS and bring best in class audio to LG V20 users.”
This move clearly shows LG’s efforts to gain ground in the smartphone arena. According to rumors, the LG V20 will feature a dual screen. However, the company has refused to share details about its upcoming smartphone.
