Gentlemen, start your engines as No Man’s Sky is finally here. Get ready to explore the galaxy and claim entire planets in your name, but not before you install the 824 MB patch. That’s right, gamers! Just when you thought the wait was over, you have to sit through the download. On the plus side, Day One patch actually improves the game and adds some vital features.
First, and most important of all, it adds three distinct “paths” that you will have to choose from and your choice will have a major impact later on. Aside from this, the game’s story has been tweaked to let you experience multiple endings. We can only guess what this means, since we have no clue about the “ending,” and we’re not interested in spoilers.
Developer Hello Games has made “collisions” more likely, which means you will now encounter other players more often. Initially, due to the sheer size of the game’s universe, chances of players actually running into each other were quite rare. This was one of the most interesting features of the game, and helped sell the feeling of being out alone in the vast space. However, the patch now allows you to scan other players’ activities and visit their locations. It will be really interesting to see whether players are cooperative or hostile, or if they even want their locations to be known.
Unlike any other game, No Man’s Sky gives you the freedom to explore an entire universe full of procedurally generated planets. There has never been any other game of this magnitude, with the game world too big to explore for a single person. So how was such an impossible task accomplished on the development side? That’s the best part. Each and every rock, creature, structure, and object is procedurally generated through a series of rules and parameters that are programed in the game’s code itself. In fact, No Man’s Sky has been created in such a smart way that its entire size is only 3.69 GB.
That’s all for the Day One Patch of No Man’s Sky. Are you excited for the game? Let us know if you are happy with the new features and tweaks in the comments below. For all your gaming news and updates, you know where to look.
Keep watching this space as we venture deep into the unknown with No Man’s Sky.
