Blizzard just released the latest animated short – this time focusing on Bastion – one of the most loved and also hated character in Overwatch. The video shows him waking up in what we are sure is the Black Forest in Germany, when he first meets Ganymede the yellow bird and gets reactivated after many years. Check out the video below and see for yourself.
Everything from the lush green forest in a peaceful and serene environment, to the destruction and killing in war flashbacks we loved every second of this glorious short. If you can forgive him for his violent past, or simply ignore it, the goofy behavior and naïve personality of Bastion really reminds us of Wall-E, and it is this personality that makes Bastion such an interesting and lovable character. In terms of gameplay, Bastion remains the annoyingly over-powered turret that players dread or hate.
Eagle-eyed fans might have caught a glimpse of a castle in the background at somewhere around the 4-minute mark. This is most definitely the castle featured in the upcoming map called Eichenwalde, which arrives in September.
Speaking of the new map, it is no coincidence that Eichenwalde was revealed at Gamescon, so close to the animated short The Last Bastion also set in Germany. The town of Eichenwalde is situated near Stuttgart on the edge of the Black Forest — and we are sure this is the castle shown in the video.
That’s all for now gamers. Are you excited about the new map coming to Overwatch? What features would you like to see in the maps and game modes?
