The PlayStation Meeting event due September 7 seems like it is going to bring us multiple big announcements. Rumors suggest two consoles are going to be unveiled but there is even better news to look forward to. NeoGAF forums reports Rockstar Games is bringing Red Dead Redemption (RDR) to the PlayStation 4 and will unveil it alongside the PS4 Slim or Neo, or both.
The game was initially released in May 2010 and became one of the biggest open-world titles ever. John Marston's story is the stuff legends are made of and he stands out in the list of slain heroes. It is possible that the game will add the Undead Nightmare expansion.
RDR still brings back captivating memories of a heartfelt storyline, insane hours of gameplay and the choice to walk your own path. All these characteristics allowed RDR to gain rapid popularity and a fanbase that yearns to see more out of the world of guns, spit and tobacco.
A remaster is a refreshing thought but cannot be warranted to generate a noteworthy reaction. It’s been over six years since the first iteration was released, and since the popularity of the title has waned, this remaster could either light a spark or fall flat. We saw this with the Xbox One/360 remaster of Red Dead Redemption and its following surge. Fans were excited to relive John Marston's adventures on the Xbox One thanks to backwards compatibility.
RDR's remaster may do well but as part of the larger picture, we need something even bigger from Rockstar. Remasters are great but if Rockstar decides to announce the next installment of the series, it could dominate headlines about the event and secure significant traction.
