Rumors about Apple’s upcoming handset, the iPhone 7, might have disappointed some, but many enthusiasts are still looking forward to the device. Why is it so? Answer: the rear-camera of the 4.7” that may come with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
The camera is undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of smartphones these days, forcing manufacturers to install the best available shooter on their handsets. And Apple is no exception. According to a report by Nowhereelse.fr, a French publication, the iPhone 7 is very likely to feature a camera with OIS.
Apple will clearly not be the first smartphone manufacturer to pack its device with a dual-lens camera, or OIS. In fact, OIS has already appeared in the Plus variants of the iPhone 6 and 6s, which is the reason pictures and videos shot by these devices are better than the smaller screen variants. The feature is basically a mechanical solution which helps the camera improve image and video quality, even in low light. The 4.7” iterations of the last two models were missing this feature, and therefore their picture quality suffered in low light.
A dual-lens camera, as mentioned earlier, is also available on a number of devices, such as HTC A8, LG G5 and Huawei P9. Multiple cameras on these devices capture different details from a scene and combine the two images into one, which is better and more detailed. As usual, Apple has come up with these features a tad late, but we believe the integration of both these camera technologies will be done flawlessly on the new iPhone models.
Many users might be disappointed by these new models, but we believe that just like the camera upgrade, there are many other subtle improvements that will make it one of the best devices of the year. Just as the company is said to have ditched the 16GB model and replaced it with 32GB, the battery capacity has also improved. Reports also suggest the home button slot will be pressure-sensitive instead of the regular clickable button.
