Fans of the series were hit recently with the disappointing news that Final Fantasy XV had been delayed from September 30 to November 29. Now we are hearing that those who ordered the Ultimate Collector’s Edition won’t be getting the season pass.

The Director of Final Fantasy XV, Hajime Tabata, told fans that there was no way for Square Enix to put the season pass into the Ultimate Collector’s Edition, and that the company was also told that it couldn’t make more of the special editions. If you’re one of those lucky ones who haven’t ordered any of the physical editions of the game and are buying the digital version, you can get the season pass for $24.9. If you want to purchase it with the game, it would cost you $84.99.
Fans have been expressing their disappointment at the news. It surely is unfair for all the series’ dedicated fans. Better to rename this special edition to the “Not-So-Ultimate Collector’s Edition!”
The Ultimate Collector’s Edition comes with all the content that the Deluxe Edition has, and includes a Play Arts Kai Figure of Noctis, along with a two-disc steelbook which contains all the music of Kingsglaive, Brotherhood, and Final Fantasy XV. It also includes the entire five episodic series of Brotherhood with an additional bonus scene. The Ultimate Collector’s Edition costs $269.99, and you can buy the Deluxe Edition for $89.99.
Square Enix delayed Final Fantasy XV saying it needs more time to optimize it until it feels the game is ready to give the highest quality experience. The game is coming out on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will surely be one of the best games of the year.
