A few days after Pokemon Go was released worldwide, fan-made theories and guides started appearing in online communities. Players started to share their experiences about what they’ve encountered in the game. Out of these countless theories, one stood out which involved the Pokemon luring device in Pokemon Go; the “Incense” and its spawn rate.
According to one fan, the Incense was most effective in isolated, empty spaces. To further prove his point, he put together a video on YouTube to better explain his theory. In the video, he stated that using an Incense in the wild, meaning away from the city life (no roads, no PokeStops, no Gyms etc.) is much better than using an Incense in the city. To prove his point, he went on an adventure, taking screen shots of everything he caught. All this was then compiled into his video which you can watch below;
The video does prove his point as the number of “rares” he captured in the wild were a lot more compared to when he had the incense on in the city. However, that’s old news as a Reddit user by the name of Phobeef has found out something new.
Though Phobeef’s theory only adds to the one mentioned above, it revealed that apart from the location, the speed at which you are moving also matters. He stated that to maximize the spawn output, players have to be moving at approximately 200 meters per minute. He further added that several Pokemon won’t show up if you’re moving too fast. As a result, if you want to make the most of your Incense, walk in the wild at approximately 3.33m/s. Check out these pictures here for further proof.
That’s all for now, comment below and let us know your views on this theory. All in all, we tried and tested this theory, and it did work for us. We were able to catch a lot more Pokemon than before. However, since the Incense spawns at random, we can’t guarantee the result but it’s worth a shot.
