Capcom yesterday released a second trailer for its upcoming survival horror game, Resident Evil 7, at Gamescom. Although this trailer is no match for “Beginning Hour,” the first trailer, it shows how Resident Evil will take a completely new direction in terms of gameplay aspects.
The “Lantern” trailer focuses on a girl called Mia, who is trying to escape an old woman. We don’t get a closer look at her so her identity is still a mystery. The trailer also didn’t reveal why is she after Mia, but it seems like she has some sort of connection to Mia.
Unlike the first gameplay trailer, this one focuses on stealth rather than finding clues and putting pieces together. Throughout the trailer we see Mia trying to get away from the old woman, by either running away from her, or finding a good hiding spot. It is not until the end of the trailer that we get to see a slight glimpse of the woman. She has a lantern in her hand, hence the trailer name “Lantern.”
After the second trailer, we only have one question for Capcom. Will we get a chance to play a demo on the Lantern trailer? We received a short demo with the first gameplay trailer and we believe it would be best if we can experience the upcoming game again with the Lantern trailer as well.
Resident Evil 7 is set to release on January 24, 2017 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and is said to be the best Resident Evil game for the franchise so far. Unlike previous games, where you just had to blindly shoot at wave after wave of enemies, in this game you will be able to hide from them and solve puzzles to unravel a mystery and save yourself. Oh and before we forget, this upcoming game is made on the new Resident Evil engine, and would probably give you nightmares.
